(KMCS) contracts with the State of Kansas to provide Commercial Motor Vehicle (CMV) registration and International Registration Plan (IRP) registration for truck-tractors, trucks, semitrailers and trailers based in Kansas. We have provided this service to Kansas based motor carriers throughout the emergency declarations for COVID-19. This has been accomplished by limiting the exposure of KMCS staff and those that must register their CMV/IRP vehicles. Beginning Monday, November 23, 2021, KMCS will move to an “Appointment Only” approach for CMV/IRP vehicle registration. No customers will be allowed to enter the building. We are encouraging all customers to participate in contactless registration for the 2021 renewal season beginning December 1, 2020. Renewing CMV and IRP fleets, adding new units, and any other registration related tasks can be initiated remotely and in advance. Should any customer need to physically be at the KMCS office located at 2900 SW Topeka Blvd, Topeka, KS 66611 an appointment will be required. Appointments can be scheduled by going to www.kmca.org and clicking the “CMV/IRP Registrations & Renewals” link.
