The Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration's (FMCSA) National Registry II (NRII) system has fundamentally changed how medical certifications are reported to the State Licensing Agency. These changes now affect all Commercial Learner's Permit (CLP) applicants and Commercial Driver's License (CDL) holders.
What Has Changed
As of June 23, 2025, medical exam results are now transmitted electronically from FMCSA's National Registry directly to State Driver's Licensing Agencies (SDLAs). This information now appears on drivers' Commercial Driver's License Information System (CDLIS) records, replacing the traditional paper certificate system.

Verifying Your Medical Certification
In Kansas, drivers can verify their medical certification status online. Important: KMCA has been informed that it can take up to 24 hours for information submitted by a medical examiner to populate on the state website; though as quickly as a few hours.
This means, because an examiner may take up to 24 hours to submit, results may not be available for up to two business days.
