Professional Truck Driving Championships

April 8, 2020

Dear KMCA Members, Professional Truck Drivers and Volunteers,

As the Kansas Trucking Industry continues to provide essential transportation services throughout the country, most notably to the front lines in the fight against COVID-19, protecting the health and safety of our workforce is our number one priority.

Yesterday, KMCA’s Executive Committee and the Kansas Professional Truck Driving Championships Committee Chairmen met via conference call to discuss cancelation of the 2020 Kansas Professional Truck Driving Championships (KPTDC). The group took into consideration the cancelation of ATA National Truck Driving Championships, current limitations on the number of people that can gather in one place and the safety of the Truck Driving Championships participants, volunteers and spectators. Therefore, the decision was unanimous to cancel the 2020 KPTDC originally scheduled for June 19 – 20, 2020 in Topeka, KS.

KMCA congratulates all the drivers who have driven accident-free over the past year and the scores who have accumulated millions of accident free miles. We thank you for every mile you run and every delivery you make. We are so very proud of each of you for meeting the challenge of keeping this country running in this time of crisis.

In addition, the Safety Awards Banquet, originally scheduled for April 21, 2020 has been canceled as well. Presentation of the Fleet Safety Awards, recognition of the Drivers’ of the Month and Driver of the Year and introduction of the new Captains of the Kansas Road Team has been postponed until the KMCA Convention to be held September 16-18, 2020 in Wichita.

Further, the 2020 KMCA PRO TRUCK PAC Golf Classic scheduled for June 4, 2020 in Newton has been canceled and will be replaced with an industry wide drive for contributions to PRO TRUCK PAC.

If you have further questions, please contact Tom Whitaker, KMCA Executive Director at 785-267-1641 or tomw@kmca.org.
